The Madhya Pradesh High Court reprimanded the Indore police after 29 pieces of evidence, including samples from a homicide case, were reportedly destroyed by rats.
The court expressed concern over the poor conditions in which the evidence was stored, describing it as "pathetic."
The incident came to light during a bail hearing for Ansar Ahmad, who faced charges for causing fatal injuries to his wife, Tahira B, in 2021.
The court criticized the police for failing to protect the evidence and instructed the state police chief to inspect all police station storage facilities to prevent such occurrences in the future.
