Noted Konkani writer, Damodar Mauzo has called for enacting a law mandating prior permission from the police before holding any protests.
He also demanded that the authorities should also fix timings for groups to hold protests to avert law and order situation.
Addressing the gathering of citizens of Goa at the meeting called to condemn the Bajrang Dal protests at the residence of writer Uday Bhembre, Mauzo expressed his doubt whether there exist law and order in the State. “There is a need to bring a law mandating anyone from taking prior police protection before holding protests. The law should also ensure that the protests are allowed during specified timings,” he said.
